At first, Rumi from KPop Demon Hunters and Elsa from Frozen don't seem to have much in common. They're from completely different stories, with different personalities, powers, and worlds. But put them side by side in a different scenes, and something becomes hard to ignore: they can look surprisingly similar!
I have gathered a few moments where Elsa and Rumi look almost identical! And this makes us think, if it's all just a coincidence? Or is there's something else behind this strange similarly!
1. The Childhood Scene
This is the part that shocks me the most! Both girls spend their childhoods "learning to hide" who they truly are!
Rumi, as a child, was taught to hide her demon patterns. This never let her embrace her true self. Similarly, Elsa, as a child, was given gloves to wear! Do that she could "hide" her ice powers!
In both cases, parents/guardian didn't let them embrace their true selves from the very beginning. Which was the foundation of "guilt" and "shame" they felt inside them.
2. The Guilt and Shame
In both stories, protagonists went through the feeling of extreme guilt and shame over something they never even chose! Shockingly, both are sharing immense similarly in these scenes:
All of these scenes are their breakdown moments. If you look closely, you can see it — their environment, atmosphere, facial expressions, style, and even their hand, head, and body postures are all so similar!
3. The Mirror Scene
So you must remember the scene from KPop Demon Hunters where Rumi suddenly loses her voice while singing the song "Golden" during a rehearsal. She runs to the bathroom and looks at herself in the mirror. Well, that scene looks a lot like the moment Elsa sees herself in the mirror while singing a song.
4. Rumi and Elsa Got Exposed
Well, we know how both protagonists were exposed in front of everyone. Rumi was exposed by demons on stage, while Elsa was exposed on the day of her coronation. What’s strange is how the scenes from these two completely different movies look so identical!
In both scenes, the girls lost the very thing that was hiding their truth. Rumi’s jacket was ripped off by the demons, exposing her demon patterns, while Elsa’s glove was removed, which revealed her ice powers to everyone. Both can be seen looking tense and trying to hide what is already exposed.
5. Their Voices
The most beautiful and noticeable part of both characters is their voice. Rumi is a K-pop idol with a beautiful voice that her fans are crazy about, and we can’t ignore the fact that Elsa also has such a gorgeous singing voice. Look at how similar they even look while singing.
So, Is It Really Just a Coincidence?
After putting all these moments side by side, the similarities become pretty difficult to overlook. From childhood, both girls were taught to hide a part of themselves, to the guilt and shame they carried, and eventually to the moments when their secrets were exposed in front of everyone — their stories may be completely different, but the visual parallels are surprisingly strong.
Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean that Rumi was directly inspired by Elsa. Some similarities could simply come from the way animated films portray powerful characters going through fear, isolation, and self-acceptance. But when the expressions, poses, framing, atmosphere, and even the situations line up this many times, it's definitely an interesting comparison.
Do you think Rumi and Elsa genuinely look alike in these scenes, or is it all just a coincidence?
I also made a short video showing these comparisons side by side, so you can see just how similar some of these moments actually look.
